AIT Partnership Group Ltd, a leading provider of data centre and IT infrastructure services, today revealed that it had provided Bedford Borough Council with a Data Centre Audit that identified savings of 42% of their annual energy budget.
The “Silver” Data Centre High Availability and Efficiency Audit delivered by AIT consisted of two parts:
1: EU Code of Conduct on Data Centres Best Practices Audit;
2: Temperature and Humidity Control Assessment.
The audit identified total Data Centre loads of 148kW which costs Bedford Borough Council £88,178 per annum. The initial power usage effectiveness (PUE) was estimated to be 2.1. Identified savings would increase efficiency of the Data Centre to a PUE of 1.5, saving the council over £37,000 per annum. Identified savings included adjusting dehumidifier tolerances and retrofitting variable speed drives to fans and compressors.
